The landscape of Etna is truly unique. Especially the north side of the volcano, along the “Wine Road”, is rich in many small wineries of great interest and charm.

The composition of the volcanic soils and the climate characterized by strong temperature variations give the grapes a unique flavor and scent.

Farmers have managed to adapt to the increasing difficulties caused by the frequent eruptions of Etna, which have reduced the cultivable area, but the inhabitants are accustomed to the continuous mood swings of the “Muntagna”. The Etna Wine obtained the recognition of the Denomination of Controlled Origin on 11 August 1968. In particular, in these areas the oldest DOC of the island has been produced for fifty years: Etna Rosso DOC, made from Nerello Mascalase and Nerello Capuccio grapes, and Etna Bianco DOC, obtained from the Carricante vine. It is one of the oldest DOC wines in Italy and this particular has attracted the attention of wine experts from all over the world.
